Chandra Shekhar Y. is a Senior Director – Global Sourcing with over 18 years experience working in Multi-National Companies such as GE Aerospace, Airbus, and Textron across various functions including Strategy, Supply Chain Management, Business Development, Consulting, Start-up management and operations turnaround. He has experience working in diverse industries like Aerospace and Defense, Aviation Financing, Automotive, Metals and Mining.
In his current role as Sr. Director- Global Sourcing at GE Aerospace, Chandra leads the Global Supply Chain Commercial, Contracts, Strategy and Operations, Programs, Quality for Europe, MENAT, India and Asia Pacific. He has boot strapped GE Aviation’s sourcing landscape with a 20X growth in 4 years to a $1.5 Billion sourcing region, making it one of GE Aerospace’s most significant regions. He has managed the execution of multiple complex projects from ground
breaking to full production rate in 18 months of high technology aero-engine components. He has also played a key role in formulating GE Aerospace’s Industrial Cooperation, Offsets, Skill Development and Make in India strategy. Prior to joining GE, he was the Head of Sourcing - India and SE Asia for Airbus Group. He was instrumental in increasing the sourcing footprint of Airbus Group’s to over $ 500 M from India and increasing the supplier base five-fold. He played a key role in successful bid for the $2.4 Billion Avro replacement program for the Govt of India that was awarded by on a single bidder basis. Before Airbus, he was working for Textron in Strategy & Business development responsible for India & SE Asia region. He led the sale for SFW weapon system with Indian defense. Early in his
career, he had a start-up in the hi-tech manufacturing and worked in business consulting. He has a passion working with start-ups in high tech areas and mentors them from incubation to seed/pre-series A funding level.

Chandra is also a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and APQP Lean expert with strong focus on digital adoption across supply chain. Chandra Shekhar Y. is a B.Tech & M.Tech in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and also an MBA from IIM Bangalore and Toulouse Business School which has less than 0.1% acceptance rate. Chandra is a visiting guest faculty at IIM Bangalore. He is an avid badminton player and loves reading about innovation.
